Forum Maintenance: Notification Fixes + Email-to-Post Bridge
Short changelog from the latest forum round.
Bug fixes
- Notification emails were silently failing. Replies in threads you started or commented on weren't producing email notifications. Fixed — they now land.
- "View the full thread" link in notification emails was 404-ing. The link pointed at the wrong domain. Fixed — it now goes to the right thread on
forum.mail.sb. - Email-to-post replies pasted the entire quoted history into the body when sent from a Traditional-Chinese SOGo webmail client (the "撰寫:" header marker wasn't being recognised). Fixed — replies extract cleanly now.
- Profile page email-visibility hint was stuck on "仅你可见" even after you'd switched your email to public. Fixed — the hint now reflects the actual setting ("已公开 / public" or "仅你可见 / 设为公开见设置").
New: email-to-forum-post bridge
- Reply directly to any forum notification email — your reply becomes a forum post in that thread. Works from any mailbox hosted here (
@mail.sbor any active BYOD domain). - To start a new thread, send a fresh email to [email protected]. The subject becomes the title; an optional
[slug]prefix routes the post to a category — for example,[byod] DNS questionlands in BYOD. - The bridge auto-quotes the post you replied to so threads stay readable. Quote chains are flattened to one nesting level by default; quotes you type yourself are kept as-is.
- Replies are checked against a signed marker embedded in the original notification, so posts can't be forged from a spoofed email.
Try it: reply to your next thread notification, or email [email protected] to open a new thread.
